Welcome to Martin's violin workshop.
I am a traditionally trained violin maker & restorer and have been working professionally since graduating with merit from the internationally renowned Newark School of Violin Making in 2001.
On returning to south Wales I decided to set up a small workshop with a relaxed environment where customers could discuss their requirements directly with myself ensuring an honest and expert personal service at all times.
From my private home based studio workshop, I passionately pursue all aspects of the trade, from improving the tone on clients instruments to full professional level set-up work, small repairs and complete restoration on valuable antique instruments.
Now well established in my home town of Caerphilly, I continue to undertake work for notable players in:
BBC Orchestra of Wales
Welsh National Opera
Brecon & South Powys Music Services
And many schools in South Wales

With many years of professional experience, I offer a comprehensive violin workshop repair & maintenance service to violins, violas, cellos and double bass.
I cater for professional players, students and beginners as well as working closely with reputable dealers within the trade.
Although not a 'dealer', I do have a small sales room with violins, violin outfits, violas, and cellos for sale including violin bows, viola and cello bows and accessories.
As such you will find my prices are often lower than that of the large high street violin shops having prices that usually reflect their large running costs. This is of particular benefit to students and conservatory level players whom are often on a budget.
Customers can be confident in knowing that any instruments left for repair or available for sale are set up only by myself to the highest standard.
Please phone for an appointment to discuss your requirements prior to your visit.
Enjoy browsing the website for further details.
The workshop is located conveniently near Cardiff and not far from the historic Caerphilly castle.
~ I'm sorry but I do not carry out a bow re hair service, however I can highly recommend John Stagg in Bristol.
